Maybe coming back!

I've been out of the game for a long time. I dropped just before the Thargoid war got serious, and honestly every time I considered getting into it I remembered how fighting Thargoids required groups, a completely redesigned ship with weapons only good for Thargoids and of course a new engineering grind and... well no thanks.

But now that that's over I'm thinking of coming back so what are your tips for players long out of the black? For reference I preferred mostly bounty hunting stuff, didn't really love any of the ground stuff, super loved those littler drone fighters my ship had.
